If you use a recruiter then you need to recruit the recruiter team carefully. You probably heard people tell you about the things bad recruiters do like sending people's resumes out indiscriminately so that it ends up in their boss’s hands, or calling a person's current employer for a reference without getting the candidate's permission first, or those recruiters that waste everyone’s time by misrepresenting the facts.
If a recruiter is any
good then they with take time to learn about you rather
than just collecting your resume and passing it on. Will
they actually take the time to figure out what you want
and what you’re suited for? If not then they may
constantly bug you with calls about jobs that have no
appeal to you. Make sure you get a recruiter that cares
as much about your career as their commission.
